The Vibe This is Burgundian thinking applied to Spain's mountain Garnacha — a single lieu-dit wine from a plot so specific it has a name, a postal address, and a personality entirely its own. Only 4,239 bottles were produced, bottled in May 2024, making this one of the rarest wines in the Cosecha portfolio.
The Taste Concentrated and intense, with meaty notes, wild red cherries, and subtle yeast complexity. The white, sandy, quartz-rich soils push the wine toward a lower pH and firmer, chiseled tannins — a structure that sets Navatalgordo apart from Comando G's other village wines. Despite the warmth of 2022, the northern exposure and altitude deliver a freshness that feels unusual for the vintage, with more intensity from cold-driven polyphenols, but a cooler overall profile. Give it time in the glass, or decant — this wine closes up before it opens.
The Story Comando G was founded in 2008 by Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi and Fernando García with the aim of showcasing the elegance and finesse of high-altitude, old-vine Garnacha in the Sierra de Gredos. Working on a Burgundian hierarchy — village, 1er cru, grand cru — Peña la Mora 1er comes from just 1.17 hectares in Navatalgordo at 1,200 metres elevation. After manual harvest, the wine ferments spontaneously with native yeasts, undergoes two months of maceration without aggressive pump-overs, then is pressed and separated from skins. Elevage runs approximately 10 months in used French oak. The result is a wine built for a decade, not a dinner.

Best Enjoyed With Serve at 16–18°C after at least 45 minutes of decanting. Roast lamb with herbs, aged Castilian cheeses, or wild mushroom dishes. Or cellar it and open it in 2030.
