This wine is the most exclusive offering from Cellers Joan D'Anguera, made with the family's oldest parcels of Carinyena (Carignan) in Montsant. This hardy grape variety was known to survive scorching hot summers and was once forgotten by winemakers.
However, with the mastery and unique, lengthy ageing process used by Joan D'Anguera winemakers, the Carinyena grape absolutely flourishes as L'Hostal.
The wine is made with alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in concrete vats using indigenous yeasts. Aged for 36 months in old French oak barrels then 12 months in bottle. The wine is naturally cold stabilized by winter’s chill and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This wine is deep and incredibly complex red. The palate is refined with a carry-over of the herbal overtones framed by an attractive fruit component. A delicious wine to watch evolve over time.
