In D.O. Terra Alta, Josep grows Grenache Blanc from several plots around the village of Gandesa, in the locale known as Aucalà. The landscape here is dominated by Mediterranean limestone, chalky soils.
Aucala is a beloved all-rounder. It boasts a rich flavour profile with a hint of spiciness derived from its barrel aging. the nose has the smell of nutty tannin in fresh-cut white fruit - custard apple, feijoa ... and a touch of earthier spiced quince. Such a cleverly constructed (and delicious!) wine. Great value drinking.
