The Vibe
La Comarcal (roughly translating to “The District”) is all about youthful energy and capturing a specific moment in time. This Malvasia channels the sun-drenched, high-altitude ruggedness of the Valencian terroir into a glass. It is vibrant, unpretentious, and built for sharing with friends around a table loaded with tapas. It captures the rugged beauty of the region with a profile that is both fresh and deeply grounded.
The Taste
The 2024 vintage is defined by its striking aromatic complexity—think white flowers, Mediterranean herbs, and bright citrus zest. On the palate, it is bone-dry and lean, showing a beautiful tension between its natural, slightly waxy texture and its high-altitude acidity. The ancient limestone soils provide a mouth-watering, saline minerality that drives a long, clean finish without any heavy oak interference.
The Story
“Traveling winemakers” Javi Revert and Victor Marqués became inseparable while working together at the renowned Celler del Roure. In 2017, they launched La Comarcal with an obsessive passion for exploring the land to find unique, forgotten plots and dedicated winegrowers to partner with. Working with vines recuperated in areas like Font de la Figuera—some originally planted by Javi’s great-grandfather—they are actively redefining the region. Their philosophy is simple and minimal: collaborate with friends, rely on low intervention in the cellar, and bottle the unique places and moments in time they create with wine.On that friend note during harvest back in 2021 the Castor collaboration wine was born. Previously a skin contact Malvasia this is now direct press.
Best Enjoyed With
Serve well-chilled at 10–12°C. This is a highly versatile food wine that shines alongside traditional Valencian paella, grilled octopus, garlic prawns, or a board of soft, creamy cheeses and Marcona almonds.
