Case of Pormenor Tinto 2022 | $33.00 per bottle
Grape Varieties: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Rufete (60+ year-old field blend)
Region: Douro Valley (Cima Corgo), Portugal
Producer: Pormenor Vinhos (Pedro Coelho)
Aging: 20 months in used 225L French oak barrels
Alcohol: 13.5% vol.
Production: 10,000 bottles (750ml)
The Origin: Born in the high-altitude hills of Soutelo do Douro (Cima Corgo), where 60+ year-old vines sit over 500 metres above sea level on cool East and North-facing slopes. While the Douro is famous for heavy, extracted reds and fortified Ports, winemaker Pedro Coelho uses these cool, high-elevation sites to craft something entirely different: a Douro red driven by elegance, lift, and granite-and-schist minerality.
The Profile: Violet in the glass, with a discreet, beautifully restrained nose of crushed red and black fruit, wild green herbs, and a subtle touch of integrated wood. On the palate, it defies expectations—fresh, lithe, and lit by a line of wet-stone minerality rather than heavy oak. The fruit evolves continuously in the glass, framed by silky, well-rounded tannins and a long, focused finish.
The Craft: A true old-vine field blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, and Rufete. Picked in late August 2022 — the earliest Douro harvest on record, driven by that summer's extreme heat — the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, with a portion of whole stalks included for structure and aromatic lift. Macerated gently for four weeks with minimal pumpovers to avoid harsh extraction, then aged for 20 months in used 225L French oak barrels. Unfined, unfiltered, naturally stabilized, and made with low sulphites.
The Vibe & Pairing: A wine that redefines what Douro field blends can be—fluid, energetic, and built for the table. Pop it whenever you want an authentic expression of place that doesn't weigh down the palate. Excellent right now or tucked away in the cellar for further bottle evolution. Serve at 15–17°C alongside roasted poultry, grilled lamb chops, wild mushroom dishes, or medium-aged sheep's milk cheeses.
