La Comarcal Blanco 2024 | Font de la Figuera, Valencia, Spain

91 Points — Robert Parker (February 2026)

Producers: Javi Revert & Víctor Marqués Region: Font de la Figuera, Valencia, Spain Grape Variety: Malvasía Castellana (majority), Chardonnay (10%) -Viticulture: Certified organic, indigenous yeasts, minimal sulphur ABV: 11.5%

The Vibe At 11.5% alcohol this is a Mediterranean white that doesn't play by Mediterranean rules. Font de la Figuera sits at 710 metres in the foothills of the Penya Foradà mountains, southwest of Valencia — limestone soils, high altitude, and a continental restraint that separates it from the sun-baked stereotype of Valencian wine. This is the village wine from that address: precise, fresh, and built for the table.

The Taste White fruit and florals on the nose — stone fruit, gentle balsamic herbs, a bay leaf edge. The saline minerality of the calcareous limestone soils runs through the palate clearly, giving the wine a breezy, slightly herbal freshness that creates an extraordinary pure spirited Mediterranean white. 11.5% ABV means the fruit leads without heat, and a pH of 3.2 with 5.5 g/L acidity keeps everything lively through to a clean, lively finish. Six months of maturation adds texture without weight.

The Story La Comarcal was born from a decade-long friendship forged at Celler del Roure, one of Valencia's most influential estates. Javi Revert and Víctor Marqués founded the project in 2017 as "traveling winemakers" — exploring the region's mountain vineyards for plots and growers worth working with, rather than building a fixed estate. Font de la Figuera is personal territory for Javi — his great-grandfather planted many of the vineyards around the village, and he returned to recover those plots, farming indigenous varieties like Malvasía, Bonicaire, Trepadell, and Merseguera that had largely been forgotten. The two apply regenerative agriculture across every parcel they work with, replacing international varieties with indigenous ones suited to each site, and practicing traditional mixed-agriculture farming alongside the vines. The Blanco is fermented separately by variety with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel — nothing added that isn't already there.

Best Enjoyed With Serve well chilled at 8–10°C. Grilled seafood, paella valenciana, herb-roasted chicken, or fresh goat cheese. Low alcohol makes it the easiest second-bottle decision in the Cosecha portfolio.
