    The blend is 60% Callet y fogoneu, with 20% Syrah, 10% Cabernet and 10% Merlot. Aging the Callet y fogoneau in American oak and the remaining juice in seasoned French oak, 12 Volts is a fresh, spicy, lifted and totally captivating wine.

    Excellent balance and freshness, as befits a wine from the current Peñin winery of the year, the beguiling 12 Volts shows ripe red fruits on the nose. On the palate, freshness shines through, creating an elegant, juicy finish that leaves you wanting more.

    This poster-child Mallorca wine… 100% Callet-Fogoneu… has hand picked grapes, exposed to wild, natural yeasts and aged in 600L French oak. The wine is cherry in colour with a hint of purpled at the rim. The high intensity nose smells of raspberry, forest berries, dark Mediterranean scrub and a hint of saline.

    The palate has a savory, fruit flavour, marked by a pleasant woodsiness and hints of herbs. As the wine develops, it releases fresh saline notes. Very well balanced, with no overt glycerol, 4 Kilos has a nice vibrancy and sense of life without any aggressive tension.

    The hand harvested Manto Negro (90%) and Syrah (10%) grapes, grown in calcareous clay with boulders that heat-up in the afternoon sun, are fermented with natural yeasts in stainless, then matured for 12 months in 500L French barrels, followed by 6 months in 4000L French oak foudre and 6 months in bottle.

    Garnet in colour, with a purple trim, the nose provides expressive aromas of raspberry and blueberry. You may also note a subtle menthol background and toasted wood.

    In the mouth, the entry is light, with sweet tannins at the fore. Nicely balanced with excellent acidity, there is an abundance of red fruit to engage the palate, followed by a spacious, elegant and persistent finish.

    This Mencia is exceptional.

    The grapes come from extremely steep slopes rich in decayed granite. They are naturally farmed, naturally fermented, and the Fusco is bottled without filtration or fining, which is clear in the wine's opaqueness in the glass.

    Ribeira Sacra is in the center of Galicia, a cooler and particularly rainy place so Mencia can come across as stemmy, unripe, green peppery.

    Albamar's Fusco makes that hard to believe though, it's so deliciously supple and juicy!

    Tio Uco is 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo), growing in clay and limestone soil, sourced from three sites in Toro. Hand harvested and de-stemmed, there is a 24-48 hour pre-fermentation maceration, followed by a native yeast fermentation and 20 day maceration.

    Alvar is making unusually fresh wines in Toro using organically farmed 25-40 year old vines. With only a gentle maceration, the wine is aged for 5 months in neutral French oak barrels.

    Aromas are wild and heady, full of fermenting berries, black cherry compote, incense and clove, with a jazzy, light opening, dissolving into a fun and full flavoured palate of cassis, cranberry, cola, salt plums, balsamic, wild rose, and bitter herbs on the finish.

    Substantial and spicy, but light on its feet, this is a lovely Toro for everyday drinking pleasure.

    The vineyard is located in the D.O. of Arribes (a little-know appellation located in the extreme western edge of Spain along its border with Portugal) at an average altitude of 640 meters. Growing in almost inhospitable granite and mica soil, the grapes used are comprised of a field blend that includes 50-60 year old native varietals such as Juan Garcia, Rufete, Tempranillo, Commissioning Cruz, Verdejo Black, Bastardillo boy, bossy and some others not yet identified.

    For this vintage, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel and fiberglass vats, using no oak whatsoever. The wine was then aged for 5 months in barrel and one month in stainless steel.

    There is a lovely brightness of fruit, some herbal aromas and a meaty touch. The wine has a ripe quality due to the warm harvest, balanced by excellent acidity.

    Aciano comes from a 3-hectare vineyard, planted in 1919, that Alvar inherited from his grandfather. Located at 700 meters near El Pago in the southern part of Toro, the soil is very sandy and phylloxera-free.

    100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo), the grapes are fermented in full clusters with indigenous yeasts after a three to four day cold maceration.

    This uncharacteristic Toro is perfumed, lifted and a little funky. The bright, juicy fruit almost explodes from the glass, easing into a lush mouthful of blackberries, black cherries and mulberry. There’s a sweet/savory aspect that keeps you coming back for more.

    In the mouth there are hints of grass, stone fruit and flint. And as the wine warms, the Verdejo aromatics develop, as the balance of fruit and acidity delight the palate.

    The harvest is manual and the grapes are transported to the winery in boxes of only 15 kg, preserving all the flavour and quality. The grapes macerate for 24 hours and then undergo a natural decantation for another 24 hours. The wine then ferments with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels for 3 months. Finally, it is aged for eight months in French oak barrels on its lees.

    Barco del Corneta is a singular Verdejo, demonstrating the elegance this sometimes maligned grape can deliver.

    Pale straw yellow color with slight greenish and golden reflections, the wine is clean and very bright. The nose deep and very pleasant, imparting bright floral notes with hints of green grass, white fruit and citrus. In the mouth a large volume prevails. The wine is broad, unctuous, with a magnificent acidity, subtly integrated, that defines it and gives it depth.

    It is fresh, aromatic and tasty, with a long, persistent finish full of fruit and spice.

    Named after the “witch” (La Bruja) from a 1980’s television programme, Comando G’s entry-level wine is made from 100% old vine Garnacha growing at 3000 feet in the remote Sierra de Gredos.


    Fermented in wooden vats using native yeasts and a gentle maceration process, the wine is then aged in a 500 litre French oak foudre over five months. The resulting wine is a jovial expression of fresh, perfumed fruit, smoke and tobacco.

    Hand harvested, with a fifty day fermentation in open vats, the 1er Cru is then aged for twelve months in 500L French oak barrels.

    With its genesis in the cooler reaches of the Gredos, the 1er Cru nose is intense, yet delicate, with aromas of citrus, dried roses, incense and cedar. This is followed by fresh, succulent juicy red fruit, whose depth is balanced by bright minerality on the palate and firm tannins.

    Superb acidity dances on the palate, with less fruit intensity than on the nose, Medium weight in structure and body, it is a tremendously easy to drink Garnacha.

    Las Iruelas is a muscular Garnacha from a plot of 60+ year old, head-pruned vines planted at an elevation of over 1000 meters above sea level. A mixed and sandy terroir of granite, slate, schist and quartz with patches of clay, this is the most complex soil that Dani Landi works in the Sierra de Gredos.

    Hand harvested, the whole cluster grapes undergo natural yeast fermentation in open vats. The wine is then aged for 16 months in 500 litre French oak barrels.

    With beguiling floral aromas that are more reminiscent of the Northern Rhône than the other bottlings from Dani, Comando G or Marañones, Las Iruelas shares the same delicate fruit and delineated mineral structure characteristic of the Gredos, but pitched deeper and more somber.

    The Garnacha here is sourced from a tiny, 1 hectare vineyard near the village of Cerebros in the Sierra de Gredos, but outside the Méntrida D.O. The vineyards are planted on slate soils, with quartz and red clay, at 950 metres above sea level. The vine ages are approximately 70 years. On this particular plot, the climate is Mediterranean with continental influences.

    This is a superb example of Dani's drive to deliver Garnacha’s potential to make very fine wines and is one of the jewels in Cosecha’s portfolio.

    The grapes are hand-harvested. Whole clusters undergo natural yeast fermentation in open-top oak vats with gentle extraction and a
    total of 60 days of maceration. The wine is then aged for 14
    months in 1,500 litre oak foudres and one French oak barrel. The wine
    not filtered, fined or stabilized.

    Very intense aromatics, incredible freshness, and nervous acidity.

    On the nose, you'll discover pure and bright red berry fruit, with
    delicate floral notes and peppery spices. The palate is greeted with a delicate, yet expressive, and incredibly fresh bouquet of fruit and delightful spice. It continues with an elegant, long and persistent finish.
