Luis Rodriguez
In 1988, Luis Rodriguez quietly created his winery with the intention of producing honest, terroir-driven wines from indigenous Galician grape varieties that were going nearly extinct at the time.
His mission is to showcase to the world the incredible potential of indigenous grape varieties like Treixadura, Lado, Ferrol, Caiño Longo, Caiño Redondo, and Brancellao.
Luis grows his grapes on sandy, granitic soils on the southwest-facing slopes of the town of Arnoia in near the north western tip of Spain. The climate is Continental and the vineyards are 100-230 metres above sea level which gives the terroir some Atlantic influence.
The soils are decomposed granite with sandy topsoil, and vines range from 10 to 50 years of age, with many of them being planted by Luis himself.
